The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD isn’t your grandpa’s pickup truck. Advanced safety features and added technology make this workhorse safer and more powerful.
Comfort at Any Level
The base trim level is the Pro, but it’s not as basic as you might imagine, although it’s the most affordable. After that comes SLE, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. If you want your Sierra 2500 to have every possible luxury and ability, you want the Denali Ultimate.
Best in Class Towing
The 2500 HD crew cab has a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 22,070 pounds. For that, your Sierra 2500 must be a long bed two-wheel drive with a 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8 engine, and be equipped with the appropriate accessories. These include the trailer brake controller, the Max Trailering Package, the gooseneck/fifth-wheel package, 18-inch or 20-inch wheels and tires, and the gooseneck/fifth-wheel hitch.
Trailering Assistance Technology
The Sierra 2500 HD has the most available trailering-assistance technologies in its class. Most of these are in the ProGrade Trailering System, standard on the SLT and higher. This includes trailer tire pressure monitoring, trailer side blind zone alert, trailer length indicator, trailer brake controller, and trailer angle indicator with jack-knife alert, among many other features.
Powerful Engines
Whether you’re towing for work or pleasure, if you drive a GMC, you expect to have plenty of power for any terrain. The Sierra 2500 HD offers two engine options. The standard is the 6.6L V8 gas engine with 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft of torque. The 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8 engine with 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft of torque is standard in the Denali Ultimate and available for all other trims.
Pro Safety
Safety is standard on the GMC Sierra. That’s why every trim level has the Sierra HD Pro Safety features. These include lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, and a rear vision camera.
The Pro Safety Plus Package is an available upgrade. It includes rear parking assistance, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane change assistance with side blind zone alerts, and trailer mirrors.
Helpful Technology
Technology should make our lives easier, and in the Sierra 2500, it truly does. You get three years of OnStar Remote Access which lets you start or stop the engine, unlock and lock the doors, and check your fuel level and tire pressure all from your phone. The Sierra comes standard with Teen Driver which activates safety systems when the Teen Driver designated fob is in use, plus you receive in-vehicle report cards on how they did behind the wheel.
