3 of the Best Ice Cream Places in Driving Distance of Manchester, IA

We love our small town here in Manchester, IA. When we want good ice cream, there are a few places within driving distance that are a lot of fun to visit. We recommend any of these spots if you’re new to the area or just passing through.

Scoop There It Is

At 39561 State Hwy 410, in Strawberry Point, Scoop There It Is is a really popular local spot for dessert treats and a fine view. Their service is perfect, and they have the most delicious flavors of a high-quality hard scoop. They also offer dairy-free Italian ice for those who need to avoid milk products. You’ll find them open from 11 am until 8 pm most of the week, though they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

They do sundaes, shakes, dessert nachos and tacos, banana splits, pop cups for your furry friend, malts, and their own homemade waffle cones. If there’s something that you want that’s not on the menu, just ask. We recommend you try their blueberry cheesecake flavor,  and the kids will love their dessert tacos, guaranteed. Just be aware that there’s almost always a line when you get here. That’s because it’s delicious.

Delaney’s

If you’re headed east on Route 20, stop at 103 1st Ave E in Farley to try Delaney’s bowls, cones, sundaes, and blizzards. They have a family-friendly atmosphere, a cute shop, and nearly 60 flavors to choose from, which you can then mix up and enjoy in almost any kind of creation you can imagine. They are open every day from 11 AM until 9 PM.

Try standard flavors like Rocky Road, strawberry, praline pecan, and birthday cake. Or, venture afield with some of their interesting choices, like Halley’s comet, the peanut butter cookie dough, Zanzibar chocolate, PB Hearts chocolate, and Ultimate Oreo Soy, which is vegan. They also have vanilla Greek-style frozen yogurt and a couple of other interesting dairy-free options that will go down well with the vegans in your life.

Scooter’s Coffee

If you want to stay in town and just get something at the drive-through, you can’t go wrong with this place. They have delicious frozen drinks and smoothies, and with an app and friendly service, it couldn’t be faster to get service here.

Try any of their blenders, which we highly recommend. You’ll find them at 305 W Main St, and they’re open from 5:30 AM until 8 PM Monday through Friday. On the weekends, they open a little later at 6:30 AM. Our favorite? The Turtle Blender is a rich soft serve with chocolate, caramel, and hazelnut.
