Basics About the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 The Chevy Silverado name was first introduced in 1975. It was an upper-tier truck that was part of the C/K line. In 1999, Chevrolet decided to make the Silverado its own line and removed it from the C/K line. The fourth generation of the Silverado debuted in 2019. New/Unique Features Only the smallest changes to the Silverado were made for 2022. It includes a new paint color, called Greenstone Metallic. Custom trims can be equipped with a power-adjustable seat. The introduction of Chevy's six-feature Multi-Flex Tailgate allows drivers to turn the bed into a workbench on the road. Engine Performance The Silverado 2500 offers two engine choices. The first is a 6.6L gasoline-powered V-8 and delivers 401 horsepower. It uses a 6-speed automatic transmission and is available with either a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The diesel version is a 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel V-8 with 445 horsepower and a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. It is best for pulling the heaviest loads. Exterior The five trim levels available include the basic work truck. For those who want a fully loaded all-wheel drive, a High Country is a good option. Payload and towing depend on whether the driver chooses gas or diesel. The diesel can pull as much as 18,500 pounds while the gas version is rated up to 14,500 pounds. The regular-cab long-bed truck can carry up to 3,979 pounds while the diesel can carry 3,715 pounds. Interior Three cab options are available. The first is the regular cab model that employs a bench seat and comfortably seats three people. The double cab and crew cab comfortably seat six people. Plenty of storage space is included with generous dashboard storage and cubbies throughout. Heated seats both front and back are an option with heated steering wheels and a heads-up display. Technology and Safety Chevy offers the Infotainment 3 package that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A larger 8-inch touchscreen allows drivers to store various trailer profiles for towing.
