In Manchester, IA, we're huge fans of Chinese food. We've chosen some of our favorite Chinese restaurants within easy driving distance that we'd like to tell you about.

Grand China

Grand China is known for its modern interpretations of classic Chinese food. Their subtle changes to age-old recipes have won them numerous fans, some of whom will drive more than an hour just for their food. This family-owned restaurant has been the go-to place for fine Chinese food in Monticello, IA, for many years, and when you try their food, you'll understand why.

They have a large menu, including pork, beef, chicken, and vegetarian options, and their ample portions mean you're sure to have leftovers to take home. It's very difficult to pick a particular favorite dish of ours, as we love the unique tastes they've mastered with these recipes. If we had to pick a favorite, it's probably the Szechwan chicken with steamed rice. Grand China can be found at 116 E 1st Street, Monticello.

Chuong Garden Chinese Restaurant

This long-established restaurant has been delighting guests since 1996. It's right here in Manchester at 118 E Main Street and has a great view of the historic Castle Theater. All their food is made from scratch to provide the freshest taste possible.

Service is friendly and quick, as you'd expect from a family-owned and managed restaurant. We recommend a hot and sour soup appetizer, followed by a Hunan shrimp entree with fried rice. The Hunan shrimp can be spiced to taste, and we usually choose a 4 out of 5 heat levels. As a side, crispy vegetables make this meal perfect.

Lucky Buffet

Nearby Independence, IA, is the home of Lucky Buffet. It's located at 2335 Jamestown Avenue, Independence, and has safe parking just outside. Lucky Buffet, as the name says, serves its food as a huge buffet. You pay an entrance fee of $8 at the door and can then choose from a vast array of appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

We're usually skeptical about buffets, but this restaurant is an exception. Every item is fresh and speedily replaced when necessary. Our favorite items include the crab rangoon, egg rolls, and won tons.

Why not take the family out for Chinese tonight? You're guaranteed a great experience at any of these fine restaurants and your 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer ACTIV is raring to go. With its ECOTEC 1.3L Turbo engine and 26MPG city and 30MPG on the highway, driving is a real pleasure again.
