Engine (Power)
No matter what Sierra 2500 trim you choose, you'll enjoy a 6.6-liter V-8 engine capable of producing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. For even more power, you can equip your Sierra 2500 with a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 that generates 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. This substantial output enables the Sierra 2500 to tow up to 22,430 pounds when you add a gooseneck hitch. The diesel-powered Sierra 2500 can also carry a 4,178-pound payload.
Performance
Both 2024 Sierra 2500 engines team up with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission that boosts output while delivering seamless acceleration. A Tow/Haul mode reduces shift cycling to provide greater control and improved cooling when towing or hauling cargo. Lower trim levels feature an agile rear-wheel-drive system that gives the Sierra 2500 exceptional flexibility for maneuvering through traffic and other tight spaces.
