This vehicle runs with a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Together they output 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Variable valve timing and spark-ignition direct injection are also the norm, whereas a 3.6-liter V-6 with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque is optional.

The GMC Acadia offers a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive for all models, except for the AT4, which is an all-wheel-drive-only trim. The SLE starts off with a ride-and-handling-tuned suspension, 7.2 inches of ground clearance, fuel ratings of 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, and four front-wheel-drive modes — Normal, Snow, Sport, and Trailer/Tow.
